While traveling around the Bucktown, the rear-wheel drive paired with the
automatic transmission averages 20 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway
when loaded with the 2.7L engine. When the Toyota Tacoma is combined with the
all-wheel drive and the same engine, one can expect 19 MPG in the city and 22
MPG on the highway. When the new Toyota Tacoma is loaded with the 3.5L engine,
the pickup gets 19 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway mpg with the
rear-wheel drive. It gets 18 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway mpg with
the all-wheel drive when operated with the six-speed automatic transmission.
Further, when loaded with the all-wheel drive and manual transmission, expect
to get 17 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. You can also anticipate
similar results when loaded with the Double Cab.
For the Toyota Tundra, a 5.7L V8 is the only
engine available. It produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque.
Heavy-duty work is no challenge to this robust pickup. It can haul and transfer
plenty of cargo with little stress. It comes with a six-speed automatic
transmission. The durable pickup comes as a rear-wheel drive paired with an
automatic limited-slip rear differential designed to garner better traction.
The all-wheel drive functions with an on-demand system. The system operates
with a high/low range. Around the Oak Lawn, the Toyota Tundra gets about 13 MPG
in the city and 17 MPG on the highway, which is too close to differentiate
between the two-wheel and all-wheel drive.
Tech and Safety Features
Both the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra have similar safety features
available on various models and trims. Both trucks offer a 7-inch infotainment
touchscreen that is compatible with the Apple CarPlay™ and Android
Auto™. The touchscreen has menu controls that enable quick
adjustments during travel. One of the more popular safety features is
blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The audible alerts notify
the driver of a vehicle near its blind spots on both sides of the pickup, which
is excellent when trying to change lanes on the highways around Chicago! Also,
when the pickup is in reverse, the same tones will indicate that a pedestrian
is within range of a collision. Also, Toyota provides Toyota Safety
Sense™ P (TSS-P). The package of safety features includes
adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, forward-collision
warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking.
